Picnics and barbeques
Horsham Park is a lovely place to have a picnic, but we ask that you please dispose of your rubbish and do not leave food lying around as this will encourage rats.
Barbecues are currently permitted in the park, but please do not place barbeques directly on the grass as it will scorch it. Also please do not place barbecues on benches or sculptures as this will damage them and risks causing a fire.
If you do have a barbecue, please make sure all food and other rubbish is cleared away afterwards and that your barbecue is completely out.
Toilets
Toilets can be found at Pavilions in the Park (this includes a Changing Places facility) The nearby Swan Walk shopping centre has public toilets including two accessible toilets. Koffie has toilets available for their customers.
Dog walking
Dogs are welcome in Horsham Park, except for:
- The Human Nature Garden,
- Gated Pond Area,
- Children’s Play Area,
- Tennis Courts
- Bowling Green
Water for your dog is available at the cafe and at the water bottle filling stations between the Bowls Club and the Human Nature Garden and outside the Children’s Play Area next to the park entrance to Pavillion’s in the Park.
We ask all dog owners to consider the 4 C’s:
- Control – Always ensure your dog is in sight and comes back when called. If you are not totally confident of your dog’s recall, please keep him/her on a lead
- Care for wildlife– Never let your dog approach or chase wildlife in the park.
- Consider Others – Never let your pet approach other park users or their dogs uninvited. Not everyone is comfortable around dogs.
- Clean Up – Always bag and bin your dog’s waste – this also includes the copses and other areas away from the open spaces and paths – the places that children like to explore!
For dog-lovers and parents with dog-loving children, please allow the park to be enjoyed by dogs who might be a little timid or might also value their own space. Always check with the owner before approaching or touching their dog.
